Continuous Light explained simply
What is โContinuous Lightโ?
A light that stays on so you can see its effect before taking a photograph or while filming.
- 01Light stays on
- 02Preview shadows
- 03Check exposure
How do you use Continuous Light practically?
A small exercise
Move a continuous light around a still object and watch shadows live. Set a shutter speed appropriate for movement and any flicker.
- Make a starting version and keep it so you can compare fairly.
- Try the change in the exercise. Keep unrelated choices steady where the exercise allows.
- Compare the result at the size your viewer will actually see. Write down what changed and whether it helped.
How does Continuous Light solve a problem?
It makes lighting direction easy to judge and can serve both photo and video work.
What can go wrong?
A light that looks bright to your eyes may still require a high ISO or slow shutter. Check heat and flicker.
How do you turn the idea into a useful solution?
Start with the specific problem in your image or brief, try the exercise, and keep the version that meets that need. If the result is worse, return to the starting version and change one choice at a time.
Quick check: can you explain the three ideas in the diagram?
Light stays on โ Preview shadows โ Check exposure. Explain how each relates to the exercise. Then compare the starting version with your result and choose the one that meets your brief.
