PLAN THE MOVEMENT FIRST

A clear storyboard.
A manageable sequence.

Stop motion turns a series of still photographs into movement. Whether you are animating a handmade character, moving products across a tabletop or building a practical title sequence, the shot needs a plan before the first frame.

Share your storyboard, set footprint, camera angle and equipment list. Include space for the animator to reach the scene without knocking the camera, lighting stands or background.

Build a scene.
Move it a little.

These photographs illustrate handmade animation materials and tabletop approaches. They are production references; see the studio gallery for Cineview’s actual spaces and previous setups.

CAMERA · LIGHTING · POSITION

Keep the setup steady.
Let the subject move.

01. Lock the camera.

Use a stable camera support and agreed manual settings. Mark the camera and set positions, check framing, and keep cables away from the animator’s working route.

02. Test the light.

Capture a short test with your chosen camera and lighting. Check exposure, shadows and unwanted changes between frames before starting the full sequence. Confirm lighting suitability with your own team.

03. Check each movement.

Measure or mark the planned increments and preview the captured frames. Keep an exposure and position reference so interruptions and resets can be handled consistently.

Bring your camera, suitable supports, capture software and animation team. Studio hire does not automatically include an animator, a motion-control rig or post-production. Discuss additional equipment separately.
ALLOW TIME FOR THE DETAILS

Build. Test. Capture.
Then leave room to reset.

Preparation counts.

Include load-in, set assembly, camera setup, lighting tests and test animation in your schedule. A short finished sequence can still need substantial preparation and careful capture.

Protect the setup.

For several shoot days, agree consecutive bookings, set retention and any storage in advance. Overnight access or leaving equipment in position must be explicitly agreed.

Finish the working day.

Plan time for backup, checking the sequence, dismantling the set and packing fragile materials. Include these tasks within the booked working hours. Full payment secures your booking.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Stop motion studio hire.
Your questions answered.

Do you provide a complete stop motion production service?

This page is for studio hire. Bring your animation team, camera, suitable supports and capture workflow. Animation production, editing and specialist rigs are not automatically included.

Can we animate products, lettering or handmade models?

Discuss the materials, scale and movement you intend to capture. Share your storyboard and layout so the studio space and practical setup can be checked before booking.

Can we keep a miniature set in place over several days?

Ask before booking. Consecutive days, retaining a setup, storage and access depend on availability and must be agreed for your schedule.

How do we check lighting consistency?

Bring your camera and chosen capture workflow for a test. Check exposure and frame-to-frame changes with your team before recording the final sequence. Do not assume every light or camera setting will suit the project.

What should we include in our enquiry?

Send preferred dates, hours, crew size, storyboard, set dimensions, camera and lighting requirements, preparation and pack-down time, plus any storage needs. Flag unusual materials, fixings or effects for approval.
