What is in the free photography contract template?
The four-page starting form helps a photographer and client record the services they are agreeing. It separates the brief, delivery and price from image-use permissions and privacy arrangements.
- Photographer, client and scope
- Deliverables, fees and payment
- Image licence and permissions
- Changes, cancellation and signatures
Use it alongside a dated brief and quote. The template is not solicitor-reviewed and needs tailored advice before use.
Agree the scope and delivery
Name the contracting parties and project. Record shoot date, location, duration, included preparation, crew, equipment and retouching. Confirm who supplies products, cast, styling and access. State image quantities, formats, resolution, selection process, included revisions, approval contact and delivery dates.
Make fees and changes clear
Complete the currency, itemised fee, expenses, tax treatment and payment dates. Confirm additional work in writing before charging for it. Record how a changed brief or delayed supplied materials affects timing and price after both parties agree.
Define image use separately
Name the authorised users, purposes, channels, territories and licence period. State whether exclusivity, sublicensing or onward supply is allowed. Obtain advice on copyright ownership or any proposed transfer. Photographer portfolio use should be an explicit separate decision, rather than assumed permission from a booking.
Keep releases and privacy information distinct
A photography contract describes services. A model release records specific participant permissions. An image licence describes permitted use of the work. Use the relevant documents together, supply privacy information and allocate responsibility for permissions and secure records.
Review cancellation and consumer terms
Insert tailored, fair terms for cancellation by either party, rescheduling, incurred costs and refunds. Check whether statutory cancellation rights apply to the booking. Do not assume that a payment can always be described as non-refundable. Consumer bookings and business commissions can need different terms.
Resolve questions before signing
Obtain legal advice for the intended jurisdiction and facts, especially for consumer bookings, agencies, international campaigns or unusual image uses. Agree a complaint contact, review attachments and give each party a complete signed copy. Cineview is not automatically a party to your agreement.
Questions about the download
Is this a complete legal service?
No. It is an original educational starting agreement, not solicitor-reviewed advice. The blank scope and terms must be adapted and checked for the project.
Can I edit it in Apple Pages?
Yes. Open the downloaded .docx file in Apple Pages. The supplied file is a Word document rather than a native .pages file.
Does it include model permission?
No. Use a separate model release or child model release where appropriate and review the data-protection and safeguarding requirements.
