Follow the five steps below and use the matching free worksheet to record the decisions. Adapt the process to your project, crew and agreed production procedures.

Five practical steps
Step 1
Bring the brief
List the crew size, intended setups, access needs and equipment requirements.
Step 2
Review working areas
Check the shooting space, prep areas and routes your production will use.
Step 3
Discuss access and power
Give the studio your requirements and ask its team or qualified specialists to confirm suitability.
Step 4
Record agreed details
Take permitted reference photographs and record measurements confirmed during the visit.
Step 5
Resolve open questions
Assign follow-up actions before finalising your production plan.
Original teaching example
A fictional small studio production
The producer brings a camera position sketch and equipment list. During the recce, they confirm load-in, preparation areas and the proposed light positions with the studio. They assign an unresolved power question to the competent lighting crew.
This fictional example illustrates the process. It does not describe a Cineview client project or replace confirmed instructions for your shoot.
Before you share the plan
- Check the date, version and responsible contact.
- Separate confirmed details from open questions.
- Use consistent scene, shot or file references.
- Give actions a named owner and realistic deadline.
- Share only the personal information each recipient needs.
Ask the relevant department lead to check practical details. Keep older copies clearly marked and tell recipients when a revision changes something they need to act on.
Download your working document
Check access, working areas, facilities and equipment needs. The printable PDF and editable Word file are free, without sign-up. Word files also open in Apple Pages.
