Sigma 50–120mm F2.8: UK Release and Supply Warning

Sigma’s 50–120mm F2.8 DC OS Contemporary, announced on 8 October 2026, brings a compact, stabilised telephoto zoom to Sony E, Fujifilm X and Canon RF APS-C cameras. UK preorders are £699, with release scheduled for 22 October.

A small telephoto for portraits and video
The constant f/2.8 aperture stays available throughout the zoom range. Sony E and Fujifilm X versions weigh 390g; Canon RF weighs 410g. Length also varies slightly by mount, from 97mm to 99.3mm. Alongside Sigma’s 10–18mm and 18–50mm f/2.8 lenses, it completes a three-zoom APS-C kit weighing under 1kg.
Sigma specifies HLA linear-motor autofocus and an optical design intended to reduce focus breathing. Its claimed stabilisation is 6.5 stops at 50mm and 4.5 stops at 120mm under CIPA testing conditions. These are manufacturer figures, not our own test results.
For portrait sessions in Cineview’s infinity cove studio, a telephoto zoom gives photographers another framing option with their own camera kit. Allow enough camera-to-subject distance for tighter fields of view.

UK release, preorders and a supply warning
On 13 October, Sigma’s Japanese announcement warned that orders had exceeded production capacity and some customers could wait longer. That notice does not specify UK allocations.
As of 16 October 2026, Sigma UK lists availability from 22 October. CVP lists all three mounts at £699 including VAT, available to preorder with estimated stock on that date. This is an upcoming release, not confirmed in-stock supply; check your chosen mount’s delivery estimate before ordering.
