Canon EOS R8 Mark II reaches its UK shipping date: preorder status checked

Canon’s EOS R8 Mark II reaches its listed UK shipping date on 20 October 2026, but Canon’s store still labels the camera preorder. That distinction matters: an expected dispatch date is not confirmation that stock is shipping.

Announced on 15 September, the 24.2-megapixel full-frame camera adds five-axis in-body stabilisation and a multi-controller to the R8 concept. Canon specifies up to 40fps with the electronic shutter, plus pre-continuous shooting that can retain up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed. Those headline rates depend on shooting conditions.

What matters for hybrid shoots?

Video recording includes uncropped 4K at up to 60p, oversampled from 6K, and Full HD at up to 180p. For photographers working between portraits and short-form video, the combination is worth considering alongside lens choice, lighting and recording requirements. These are manufacturer specifications, rather than our hands-on findings.

When planning a shoot at Cineview’s film and photography studio in Greenwich, bring your camera setup and allow time to check the complete workflow before production.
