Tamron 20–40mm F2.8 arrives for Nikon Z

Tamron 20–40mm F2.8 Di III VXD lens for Nikon Z, three-quarter view

Tamron’s 20–40mm F2.8 Di III VXD has reached its 22 October launch date for Nikon Z. Announced on 8 October 2026, this is a new mount option for the established full-frame zoom, rather than an entirely new lens design.

Wide framing without a large zoom

The Nikon Z version weighs 380g and measures 88.7mm long. Its constant F2.8 maximum aperture covers everything from a 20mm wide view to a more natural 40mm perspective, with VXD linear-motor autofocus and a 67mm filter thread.

Minimum focusing distance is 0.17m at 20mm and 0.29m at 40mm. For branded-content teams planning a shoot at our London film studio, that combination offers options for environmental frames and close detail shots without changing lenses. Framing and working distance still need a camera test.
