Apple iMac M6: UK price, release and editing-workstation changes

Apple announced the iMac with M6 on 27 October 2026, with UK preorders open ahead of its November release. For photographers and editors, the useful changes are the processor options and connections—not a new display format.

What matters for a photo or video workstation?

The entry model combines a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU; the higher configuration has 12 of each. Apple’s technical specifications list hardware acceleration for H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW, plus AV1 decoding.

The 24-inch-class display remains a 4.5K P3 panel rated at 500 nits. Configuration matters: the 12-core version supports up to two external displays and offers four Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the entry model supports one external display. Both start with 16GB unified memory and 256GB storage, so a photo library or video project may need additional storage planning.
