GoPro adds PolarPro close-up filters for MISSION 1

GoPro has announced PolarPro Close-Up Filters for the fixed-lens MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO. The 22 October launch adds a push-on option for tighter subject framing, separate from the recent MISSION 1 photography firmware update.

Closer focus, with a defined working range
The filters slide over the camera lens or a compatible M-Series ND filter. They use fixed focus rather than adding autofocus. GoPro lists these working distances:
- +0.5: 50–150cm.
- +1: 45–90cm.
- +2: 30–50cm.
The strongest filter therefore suits close detail rather than distant subjects. GoPro cautions that vibration and fast camera movements can affect stabilisation with the +2; its product page also warns that VLOG tracking performs poorly when stacking an ND and diopter. These specifications apply to the fixed-lens models, not the interchangeable-lens PRO ILS.
For tabletop filming in Cineview’s blackout studio for controlled product lighting, the practical consideration is repeatable camera-to-subject spacing. Mark the position before shooting a sequence, rather than assuming a close-up filter keeps the whole set in focus. We have not tested these filters.
Availability and ordering
GoPro’s 22 October announcement says global sales have begun. Its official UK three-filter set page shows an add-to-cart option, checked 23 October; UK price and delivery date were not confirmed. Separately, PolarPro’s own store still labels orders as preorder with estimated shipping on 25 October. Check the chosen seller’s delivery estimate before ordering.
